Data in Use
CAMEA Label control is based on the synergies between WorldView-2 (VHR) and Sentinel-1 (SAR) imagery. Agronomic activities will be detected with multispectral and SAR-polarimetric information.

Service summary
The CAMEA project aims to set up a certification service for environmentally friendly agronomic activities that produce crops with a smaller ecological footprint. It is introducing the CAMEA Label, which will be assigned to farmers who follow environmentally conscious agronomic practices. The label and the agronomic quality it represents will be supported by Copernicus remote-sensing techniques, which will monitor 30% of CAMEA farmers every year. Moreover, parcel maps created from the monitoring datasets will help plan agricultural activities for the future. CAMEA will thus propagate sustainable agronomy and support its spread with quality-based marketing

Customer Benefit
With the support of CAMEA, the added value of agricultural products will be increased even as the ecologic footprint of agricultural production is reduced. Ideally, the market will learn to favour CAMEA-labeled farmers.

The Expertise
«CAMEA project aims to set up a certification service for environmentally friendly agronomic activities which produce crops with a smaller ecological footprint. Farmers will voluntarily participate in the scheme which uses VHR 8 band imagery to annually certify their better land management practices.»
