Carbon sequestration is one of the cornerstones of the fight against climate change. While the plant-soil ecosystem is already absorbing almost 33% of the CO2 in the atmosphere, there is still room for improvement.
NetCarbon aims to increase the carbon sequestration of the plant-soil ecosystem from the atmosphere in order to tackle global warming. The platform offers farmers a free solution for measuring and monetising the sequestered carbon on their agricultural land. The CO2 absorbed by plants is measured using Sentinel-2 and PlanetScope data and algorithms in a manner compliant with carbon measurement certification standards. The carbon sequestered by farmers can be sold to public and private sector companies working towards sustainability and carbon neutrality, which will lead to more sustainable agriculture and a better planet for all.

“We have received many high quality entries this year but NetCarbon has really clicked with us. It aims to contribute towards carbon neutrality, which is also very important for Planet, by offering farmers a free solution for measuring and monetising their sequestered carbon. Their solution is very concrete and it directly benefits the end user who is at the core of their idea – something that we would like to see more of from downstream companies”
