Farmers in the EU lack a quick and easy way to identify diseases that afflict plants. This leads to suboptimal agricultural practices and poor management of water resources, fossil fuels, fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides, and other substances used in agricultural production, which in turn result in low-quality produce. AI Crops is a mobile-based application that can use a photo of a plant to diagnose its health on the spot and recommend necessary substances. Using integrated Copernicus Earth observation data on an area of land where plant disease is suspected, farmers will be prompted (e.g. using notifications) to inspect the area’s vegetation and start the process of scanning for disease. High-resolution land data from Copernicus will be processed by the same algorithm that will enable the detection of plant diseases in large areas.
